What is bokeh?
Bokeh is the background blurr you get when you capture a photograph using a camera.

What is depth of field?
Depth of field is the actual part of the subject which is sharper or which is in focus in a photograph. Less amount of subject is in focus then it is shallow depth of field. More amount of subject is in focus then it is higher depth of field.
To control the depth of field or amount of bokeh you need to know following factors:
1. Aperture: small f no. Will give you shallow depth of field.( Example : f1.4 , f1.8)
2. Distance between subject and camera:
If the subject is close to the camera it will help to get the highest amount of bokeh that is possible. If subject is very far then you would not get good amount of bokeh.
3. Distance between background and the subject:
The distance between subject and background is very important to control how much amount of bokeh you have to get.
If the background is very near to the subject, you would not see the good bokeh, but if background is far away from subject you notice good amount of bokeh in your photographs.
4. Focal length: longer focal length will help you to get good amount of bokeh in your photograph. (Example : in 24 to 70mm
Lens, use the focal length nearar to 70mm.)
5. Sensor size: this is the most important point to get maximum possible amount of bokeh.
But you can only achieve maximum possible bokeh in full frame camera because they have large image sensor than aps-c dslr. If the same lens used on both apsc and full frame dslr to capture same composition/frame, then the apsc camera will get comparatively less amount of bokeh.
So how to deal with the problem?
The answer is, get the lens which has wider aperture/lower f no. like f1.4 f1.8 and find the focal length which are really useful in your photography style.
and dont forget above 5 factors.
Use lens like (Sigma 50-100mm f1.8 /50 mm f 1.4 prime lens if you are shooting portraits on apsc camera)
